The Office for Nuclear Regulation can confirm that NNB Generation Company (HPC) Ltd (NNB GenCo) has complied with the requirements of an improvement notice served in May 2025.
The enforcement action was taken after the failure of components on a tower crane, identified by an operator undertaking pre-use checks on site in February 2025. This consisted of the failure of a pin connecting two mast sections together, and evidence of cracking within a mast section. The observed damage did not result in any crane failure or collapse.
Since the notice was served, NNB Generation Company (HPC) Ltd, as the principal contractor, has put in place suitable and sufficient arrangements to ensure risks relating to the maintenance and condition of tower cranes across the HPC site are appropriately managed.
The notice was served under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Regulation 13 (1).
